Show HN: LimeJourney – open-source Customer Engagement Platform
by flyingsky
Hello HN - I’m Tobi and I am building LimeJourney. LimeJourney is an open source customer engagement platform, a Customer.io /braze etc alternative.
- For the past few weeks I have been hacking on LimeJourney during my free time and I’m inviting you to check it out and give your feedback. You can try out the demo with email and password demo@limejourney.com/demo@limejourney.com
- My Grand thesis for building LimeJourney is that the channels through which we currently receive notifications will not be changing anytime soon but with the increase in data - now more than ever - businesses that will catch the attention of customers are the ones who in some shape or form are intelligently sending notifications(possibly with AI).
- LimeJourney in its current form is very far off from what I hope for it to be but still solves a couple of issues I experienced when working on another project. LimeJourney is relatively cheap($50) - single base plan compared to the other big guys in the market(>$100). It is also open source and I’lld love to see folks who are able to, adopt and self host limeJourney. LimeJourney aims to play real nice with whatever you current email sending stack is and we already have integrations with Resend, AWS and are building more.
The codebase is on Github => https://github.com/LimeJourney/limeJourney
Thank you for checking this out. You can reach me at tobi@limejourney.com
The pricing button has a typo in the url and leads to a 404 page.
prcing -> pricing
Great catch! Thanks. I have reverted the landing page to an older more mature version. Here's the pricing page - https://www.limejourney.com/pricing.
What are some of the differences between LimeJourney and Laudspeaker https://github.com/laudspeaker/laudspeaker or mautic https://github.com/mautic/mautic?
Hey, great question. I'm familiar with Laudspeaker, Not so much with Mautic & in all honesty I don't think there are any fundamental diffs between LJ(limeJourney) & the options on the market. Yeah, we have some AI stuff in the mix but ultimately I did not set out to build out something different instead I wanted to provide an alternative, less commercial solution for smaller use cases or customer engagement.
They're also Apache Unomi
Don't know much about this but it seems they say they are a Customer Data Platform (managing customers, leads and visitors data) - LimeJourney is a customer engagement platform allowing business engage with their customers, we essentially combine data from various touchpoints including CDPs to create more effective marketing strategies.
Thank you very much for your reply and explanation.
That's good to know. Sounds like LimeJourney and Unomi could play well together then. It's not a space I know much about so I appreciate your explanation. I've just been bookmarking useful looking services in anticipation of needing so scale up a future business.
You could also check out tracardi as unomi alternative it seems more feature reach and has gui.

Hey, this looks interesting. As was mentioned, the navlinks are broken, like the pricing page, etc. In addition, the audio cuts out around the 30 second mark and doesn't come back for the rest of the video. And the captions don't appear to show any text. All the best to you!
Thank you. All these should be fixed now - here's the actual loom video just in case - https://www.loom.com/share/61c783efe93a4464bfd3594fa0339d49?...
Hey, looks interesting. Top nav links are broken though.
FYI Your demo has no sound after a couple seconds
Hi, that should be fixed now! Here's the actual loom video - https://www.loom.com/share/61c783efe93a4464bfd3594fa0339d49?...
Fix it in the home page, it's still muted.
What features would be missing if you ran it self-hosted versus using your hosted option?
atp - all the features are available and can be self hosted & I think it is going to be that way for a long time - This is a side project and so I'm not really pressed to make money from it instead I am excited about seeing the community get some sort of value from it. If for some reason we need to further commercialise the project all features that wouldn't be self hosted will live in the enterprise directory and will be developed by an in-house team not the open source community.
Hey, this looks good! I will try it out, and best of luck to you on your launch!
Thanks for the kind words. If you need any help while trying it out our you need to chat feel free to shoot me a mail - tobi@limejourney.com
Looks great! I wouldn’t call $50 a month cheap though
Thanks! compared to the other players in this space $50 is actually on the lower end. But you're right that $50 isn't pocket change. In the spirit of full transparency - We're still figuring out our pricing - if you're interested in trying out LimeJourney and pricing is a blocker, shoot me an email at tobi@limejourney.com and we can work something out.
